Research examines efficacy of technology on inhibiting fungal growth on suede and leather
Micro-Fresh technology is an award winning innovative formula used to effectively eliminate and prevent the spread of bacteria. It is so versatile that it can be diversely applied to almost all products and surfaces making its potential applications infinite!
The Aerobiology and Clinical Mycology Group at the University of Leicester has undertaken an evaluation of the efficacy of Micro-Fresh treatment in preventing fungal growth on suede. They found that Micro-Fresh significantly reduced the growth of fungi on the samples tested.
The group gave Micro-Fresh technology the thumbs up and concluded that Micro-Fresh treatment could greatly reduce the growth of mould on leather/suede products and surfaces to which it is applied.
Dr Catherine Pashley, who runs the Aerobiology and Clinical Mycology Group said: “Fungal contamination of leather products leading to mould growth is a major economic problem for producers and distributors of leather goods. This is particularly a problem when the leather product is being imported to the UK from a hot humid country. This is an issue which affects the price and availability of leather goods across a range of different industries including the automotive, clothing and furniture industries. The product being tested, Microfresh, is a solution to be applied externally to the leather and which is designed to prevent the growth of fungi.”
“Our research found that when used at the concentration recommended by the manufacturers, Microfresh significantly reduced the growth of fungi on the samples of suede tested.”
The active ingredient in Micro-Fresh technology is so powerful and effective that it is currently used throughout the NHS to combat and prevent further spread of the superbug MRSA. Extensive testing carried out by the company and manufacturers has also shown that Micro-Fresh technology prevents the growth of E. coli, Salmonella and other strains of bacteria.
Importantly, Micro-Fresh is safe, non toxic and environmentally friendly. Because it continues to work even after frequent cleaning, it provides an antibacterial solution that contributes towards wellbeing in environments such as the workplace, food industry, hotels, gyms, healthcare centres, nurseries and schools and through all consumer products, including clothing!
